Jet lag had me up early again, so I took the opportunity to wander and explore.
Singapore is a feast for the eyes—bold colors, intricate architecture, and a perfect blend of old and new. I stumbled upon a stunning white church with an interior of soft blues—so pure, so calming—so Pure Placid!

Botanical Wonders & an Unexpected Drum Performance
Later in the morning, I was picked up for a quick visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Even though it was short, it was breathtaking.
A sculpture of a woman made entirely of flowers stood gracefully among the greenery, surrounded by an endless array of vibrant orchids. It felt like stepping into a fairytale.

On the drive to the office, I suddenly heard drumming. Curious, I asked what it was, and next thing I knew, we were pulling over and heading toward the waterfront.
There, on a stage by the bay, was a live drumming performance. The energy, the rhythm—it was electric. One of those unexpected travel moments that reminds you to always follow the sound of something exciting.
Business Breakthroughs: The Power of Knowing Your Niche
Then, it was time to get to work.
Our focus? Defining the store’s niche.
Here’s the thing—successful stores don’t just sell products; they sell with purpose. You need to know:
✔ What you’re selling
✔ Who you’re selling it to
✔ Why you’re selling it
So many businesses skip the “why.” They fill their shelves with products, hoping something sticks. But a store isn’t just a collection of items—it’s a story, an experience.
If you sell jewelry, don’t just sell jewelry—sell the feeling of elegance, self-expression, or timeless beauty. Build around that. Maybe add accessories that enhance a look, but don’t suddenly start selling candy, coffee mugs, and random trinkets.
It reminded me of my own journey with Pure Placid. When I first opened, I was afraid, so I sold a little bit of everything. And we did… okay.
But after COVID, I reopened with a clear focus—body care, home fragrance, and products that complemented that.
Our sales quadrupled.
Because when people walk into a store, they should instantly know what it’s about—and more importantly, why it exists. That’s exactly what I’m doing here—helping build a brick-and-mortar store with a strong, clear identity.
A Light Show Like No Other & an Unforgettable Sushi Experience
After work, we made a stop at Gardens by the Bay to see the famous light show.
I was not prepared for how magical it would be.
Towering, man-made trees covered in thousands of lights illuminated the night sky, dancing perfectly in sync with the music. It was like stepping into a sci-fi dreamscape, and I just stood there, mesmerized.

And then… sushi.
Now, I’ll be honest—I’m not a big raw fish person. But this wasn’t just any sushi—it was a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience, and I wasn’t about to miss out.
The sushi chef was incredible, and I tried almost everything. And you know what? I was surprised by how much I loved it!

Time Travel & Much-Needed Rest
Finally, it was back to my hotel for some much-needed sleep. The time change is brutal—12 hours ahead of home.
I’m literally in the future.
How cool is that?
